UNI-DAMP Humidity Cabinets: Significantly extend the lifespan of badminton shuttlecocks!

In Denmark, over 600 clubs trust the UNI-DAMP storage cabinet!

Shuttlecocks are made from natural materials (feathers or hybrids) that can dry out if not stored properly. When feathers dry, they become stiff and break more easily. A good analogy is a branch from a bush: when dry, it breaks easily, but when moist, it is flexible and harder to break. The same applies to the shuttlecock.

Purchasing shuttlecocks is a major expense in most clubs’ budgets. By properly storing tubes in a humidity cabinet, you can save money for your club. With an improvement in shuttlecock durability of 50 to 80%, you can expect a significant reduction in your purchases of 25 to 40%.

- Shuttlecocks last 50 to 80% longer.
- Shuttlecocks with the right humidity and weight create better play and greater enjoyment.
- Your club can reduce purchase costs by 25 to 40%.
- The savings ensure a quick return on investment.
- The cabinets are easy to use, require minimal maintenance, and have very low energy consumption (average of 0.36 kW per day).

The humidity cabinet is equipped with an electronic humidity control system. You can easily read the information and adjust the relative humidity, as well as the operating status, on the digital display.

The cabinet doors have locks, and we supply a set of four keys with each cabinet. For double cabinets, the same key is used for both doors for added convenience.

Each compartment can be individually locked with padlocks for added security and flexibility (padlocks optional).

Dimensions: 100 x 60 x 186 cm
Storage for 290 shuttlecock tubes (ideal for an annual consumption of 500 to 1000 tubes)
7 separate and lockable compartments
After three weeks of storage in the cabinet, analyses show that the humidity has penetrated to the middle of the feathers and they have regained their original flexibility.
A relatively small amount of water is used to maintain the cabinet’s humidity. This is done by having a container that needs to be refilled every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on temperature and ambient humidity, as well as how often the cabinet is opened.

Each club has unique needs and budgets, which is why we offer both purchase and rental options for our humidity cabinets. If you want to reduce your short-term costs and try without committing to a purchase, rental may be the perfect solution (contact us at clubs@lardesports.com).

If you are ready to invest in a long-term solution to optimise the durability and quality of your shuttlecocks, purchase may be the right choice.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

The humidity cabinet is equipped with an electronic humidity control system. It features a digital readout indicating both the desired and actual relative humidity, as well as the cabinet’s operating status.

The cabinet contains an evaporator, easy to fill with water even if the lower shelf is filled with tubes.

We recommend using ordinary tap water. You can use demineralised water and the filter will last longer, but overall accounts show that it is best to use plain water.

CONCLUSION:

Tests conducted by Badminton Europe at their elite centre in Holbæk show that players are more satisfied with shuttlecocks that have been humidified. The immediate explanation is that humidified shuttlecocks regain their “original” weight and therefore fly better. Storage in a humidity cabinet allows the shuttlecock to absorb up to 0.5 grams of water.
